March /W.I. meeting report

Radnage W.I. met for their March meeting on Wednesday 4th March 2009, fortunately the threatened snow did not arrive! A sound of constant chatter filled the Village Hall (well we hadn’t met for two months, so there was a lot of catching up to do).

Our President Janet called all to order and our speaker for the evening, Hillary James, proceeded to tell us about her fashion design training and her years in TV at Pebble Mill, while she demonstrated her sewing techniques.“Sew Easy” describes exactly her approach to dressmaking and soft furnishing projects. Hilary kindly let us into the secrets and short cuts which make sewing a joy rather than a chore, but still give a professional finished result. The evening was wonderful, we were all inspired, and I think that a lot of Hilary’s “10 minute Cushions” will be on show in members houses over the next few weeks.

After a welcome cup of tea and very enjoyable biscuits made by our tea hostesses, we engaged in the business part of our meeting planning catering events, a trip on a boat with our nearby Institute friends The Ridge Evening W.I., and a litter pick around the village, it was also muted that we should clean the road signs at the same time. It looks as though we could be on the way to a busy summer in Radnage.

Our next meeting will be held on 1st April 2009. The speaker will be a member of the “Hearing dogs for Deaf People” team, complete with a dog. The talk will be about the work of the charity.

Visitors and new members always welcome. Anyone requiring more information or wishing to join Radnage W.I. call 483879 or 484493
